STM 1st Annual Tim Murphy Memorial Golf Outing & Shindig

On Friday, August 4th (rain date Friday, August 11th) Please join us for the first annual Tim Murphy Memorial Golf Outing & Shindig. We have a great day planned, starting with our golf outing and lunch followed by the Shindig afterward at the Rotary Hill Pavilion at Lake of the Woods with food, spirits and music.

All proceeds will benefit The High School of St. Thomas More's Athletic Boosters Organization and in turn, all of our student-athletes. Proceeds will be used to support the turf tank and to assist in scoreboard upgrades due to the pending IHSA change to shot clocks.

Formerly called The STM Golf Outing and Shindig, this annual event has been renamed in honor of former STM Golf Coach Tim Murphy. Now, the Tim Murphy Memorial Golf Outing and Shindig will continue to serve in remembrance of a man with unwavering dedication to the our schools community.

On January 16, 2022, the community was devastated by the loss of Tim Murphy, who served as the STM Golf Coach from 2007-2011, during his time as coach, 07-08: SVC Champs, Won IHSA Regional, Won IHSA Sectional Team, Advanced to IHSA State, Team (3rd) , SVC Champs (295), 08-09: SVC Champs, Won IHSA Regional, Won IHSA Sectional, Won IHSA State Final (609) Team Tie for Third at IHSA State Final, Eight Place at IHSA State Final, 09-10:  Won SVC Tournament, Won SVC Conference, Won Regional 3rd at Sectional, 10-11: Won SVC Tournament, Won SVC Conference, 2nd at Regional, 2nd at Sectional, Seventh Place at IHSA State Final Team. As a long-time member of the STM community, Tim was instrumental in the high school's golf program.

Tim was many things to many people in Champaign, a skilled golfer, a dedicated coach (for his kids' teams and other teams in the community), friend, mentor, leader in the community, volunteer, husband, and treasured his role as Dad and Papa above all. For over the last decade of his life, Tim continued to demonstrate his courage, strength, and trust in God as he battled early-onset Alzheimer's. He was the epitome of a community steward, and it is in that same spirit that this tournament has been renamed in his memory.
